The tourist submersible is operated by OceanGate Expeditions, which offers paid tours taking people underwater to view the remnants of the Titanic. OceanGate Expeditions confirmed a tourist submarine belonging to them is missing and that people were in the vessel, but did not confirm how many people were on board. One sub operated by OceanGate Expeditions, the Titan, holds up to five people (three tourists and two crew members). The U.S. Coast Guard is now operating a search and rescue mission for the submarine off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. It is unclear when the Titanic sub disappeared.
