Does the US Army use metric?

Yes, the US Army uses Metric, but only for relatively short distances. After about 5000 meters, we start thinking in miles instead of kilometers. Most soldiers are able to estimate meters within 500 meters because an American football field is 100 yards long so you can estimate short distances by thinking in football fields.
