Tony & Chelsea Northrup test the Canon EOS R5 and R6 for wildlife photography and the animal eye autofocus is AMAZING! No other camera has tech that approaches this. It will automatically find the eye of any animal - dogs, cats, birds, insects - snap it into focus and track it anywhere in the frame.

BUT, it still has some serious problems... the lag while tracking a moving subject is too much. It makes it hard to keep a fast-moving subject in the frame. The autofocus points are a bit imprecise, too, so they can lock focus on parts of the animal that project in front of the eye, such as bits of fur or the bill of a bird. Overheating and battery life were an issue, too.
