In mid-2020, a Japanese fisherman named Taku Suganuma caught an alien-looking fish with a protruding head off the Imizu coast. At first glance, he thought the three-foot-long (1 meters) silver creature was a lowsail ribbonfish, which are commonly caught as bycatch during that time of year.

She reeled in her fishing line and luckily, she saw the creature moving in time before she grabbed it. While Ramirez didn’t know what it was, she perceived its bright red color as a warning sign that it might be poisonous.
In 2019, while fishing for blue halibut several miles off the island of Andoya in northern Norway, 19-year-old fishing guide Oscar Lundahl caught a creepy creature with enormous, bulbous eyes. It looked like something from another planet, shocking even the experienced angler.
